There are hundreds of possible jobs on a cruise ship. These types of jobs require more dedication than a daily 9 to 5 job. On the other hand, there are many benefits of jobs on cruise ships; you will get free accommodation and you can get free medical care from the medical department of the ship. The best part of it obviously is the possibility to travel the world and to see new places and faces – and getting paid for it!

In the cruise ship there have three administrative divisions i.e. the hotel, the deck and the engine room. They are supervised by the hotel manager, the staff captain and the chief engineer respectively. The hotel manager and the chief engineer give reports to the staff captain because the staff captain is the one running the deck. To get a higher level job on the cruise ship will probably require a degree from a navel academy. But there are many entry level jobs available as well. There are so many positions available on a cruise ship. There is always the chance of improvement. Always keep in mind that the most important feature you absolutely must display is to be sociable and affectionate while interacting with people. You have to need to be outgoing and flexible.

The main attraction of jobs on a cruise ship is the irresistible combination of traveling the whole world, visiting the attractions, enjoying many different people and low living operating cost; and of course building close relationship with your co-workers.

The usual length of a cruising job agreement will be of about 4 months during which you need to be on board the ship. In this period, initially you will be on contract for four to six weeks and you will have very low living expenditure cash for your breaks.

Earlier, cruise ships used to be ocean-crossing vessels and were the most important means of getting people from place to place at sea. Now they are barely used as a replacement for cruise ships. The cruise ship takes its time going crossways the ocean, just like the ocean-crossing vessel. Since air travel is much quicker, crossing by water is more for entertainment and satisfaction rather than for quick transportation.

For growing interest in cruise ships, the ocean-going vessels take people on southern cruises in the winter. The first of the trans-Atlantic ships to take people on southern cruises throughout the winter session on the North Atlantic was Hamburg-America Line.

The awareness about cruise ships came from the television show “The Love Boat”. That TV show used the Pacific Princess ship from the Princess Cruise Line. In the year of 1980, with the popularity of buying the Love Boat, the cruise industry began to rise. The famous TV show demonstrated that even common persons could enjoy spending time on a cruise ship for a vacation. In fact, earlier the cruise ship was more for the rich and famous. All types of cruise ships are now available in order to meet the desire of all types of people. It is known to all that between 2001 and 2006 there have been about eight or nine cruise ships added each year.

Some of the people want to visit Arctic and Antarctic. They could not previously meet the expenses or the means to do it. Now with cruise ships being so accessible, people can enjoy trips to Caribbean, Alaska or around Mexico.
