They usually choose among specializing in general internal medicine, family or peds.

If they are members of an existing medical practice then they can work with that clientele at the practice’s associate hospital. Or they may choose to work independently and assist several different practices. Physicians are always looking to reduce their workload and will turn to hospitalist for the very valuable added assistance.
